From Art Room to Party Room: A Teacher's Unexpected Journey

Hey there! I'm Scott.

Scott and Karen

For 22 years, my world was filled with creativity in all its forms - from guiding tiny hands through their first paintings to helping college students master complex 3D animations. I taught every age from kindergarten to college, moving between art rooms and digital labs, teaching everything from traditional art to computer design, graphics, and web animation.

The party planning expertise? That was all my wife Karen's territory. While I was juggling different grade levels and creative mediums, she was the real superhero, balancing her career as an education administrator while somehow creating amazing celebrations for our two boys. I just helped with the creative stuff - you know, the kind of things you'd expect from someone who taught both finger painting and digital design.

When I left teaching, something unexpected happened. Parents started asking me for party advice, probably because they knew about my years of working with different age groups and creative projects. The more I talked with them, the more I recognized that same look I used to see in my students - that mix of creative uncertainty and overwhelm. Whether it was a kindergartener facing their first painting or a college student starting a complex design project, that look was universal. Now I was seeing it in parents drowning in Pinterest boards and Instagram expectations.

That's when it hit me. Parents don't need more perfect examples to copy - they need what my students needed: clear direction, proven templates, and permission to put their own spin on things. After all, if I could guide college students through complex 3D animations and help five-year-olds create their first masterpieces, I could certainly help parents plan amazing celebrations.

So here I am, somewhat surprisingly, using my teaching background in a whole new way. Pick and Play Party Planners takes everything I learned about making creativity approachable - whether in an art room or a computer lab - and turns it into stress-free party plans. From Space Party Packs to Family Fun Nights and Adult Celebrations, I'm using two decades of teaching experience to help parents create memorable moments without the stress.

Because I've learned that creating celebrations shouldn't be harder than teaching 30 kids to paint... or managing a college design exhibition... or rendering 3D animations (and trust me, I've done all three!).

Let's make party planning feel less like a Pinterest fail and more like your favorite class - the one where you always knew you had the support you needed to succeed.
